DATES: TO BE ANNOUNCED
This will be a special photo tour to the central part of the spectacular interior of this volcanic Island. I have spent several years exploring different regions to find these locations in which the true essence of the landscape is exposed and manifested. The forms, shapes, colours and texture of this landscape is out of this world. For me its like arriving at a different planet. Perhaps the most exciting area to photograph that I know of.
We will be a small group traveling in a super-jeep/bus, with space for approximately 8 participants. This vehicle will take us safely to all the different locations we want to reach. With an experienced driver we will reach locations not too many others visit.
The main goal of this trip is to make sure you as a participant, have as many opportunities as possible, to photograph the variety of landscapes we travel through. Waterfalls, volcanoes, geothermal areas, deserts, beaches... the variation is endless! Every time we turn a corner, there is a new scenery! We want you to return home with a new and deeper experience of the Saga Island. Throughout our travels you will be exposed to nature, light, elements and landscapes that will remain with you for a long time. Hopefully you will also be loaded with new images stored on to memory cards and hard-drives. Images that you can enjoy and work on once you get home. Then you can enjoy Iceland one more time.
This is not a traditional workshop. There will be no lectures. But the guide and myself will be with you all the time and we are more than willing to share our professional and artistic knowledge and experience, both in the field, behind the camera and at our computers post-processing the images at night (or at least having a look at them)
A typical day will start early, around sunrise. After breakfast we will get out in the car and drive to our first location. Then we will spend most of the day in the field photographing and traveling. Having our lunch somewhere on route, and heading back for our dinner before it gets dark.
Once back to where we stay, we will also take time to run through our schedule for the following day. This will allow you to be prepared and to maximise how you want to spend your energy and focus.
Somedays we will be driving more than others. Accommodation in this part of Iceland is scarce. We need to be flexible.
We will be staying in hotels or hostels. We prepare lunche packs at breakfast before we take off in the morning. Most of the time we will eat dinner at restaurants. You will have single rooms with private baths. This trip does not require any special photographic experience. One doesn't have to be physically fit, since we are not going to hike long distances. In Iceland they have a saying: "Oh, you don't like the weather?! Just wait a second!" As you know, we are in no control of the weather conditions. Iceland is an exposed area with big variations, from day to day, hour to hour. We will travel in remote areas and the safety of the group will always come first. We need to be flexible and might have to change the program on short notice if the weather condition requires this.
We will be staying 7 days and 6 nights on Iceland. We will travel in the Highlands of southern Iceland. We will depart directly from the airport and we will also end our trip at the airport. This to secure as much time in the field as possible. We will be driving a small off-road buss (like a super-jeep) with very comfortable seating. This will allow us to get out and into areas not available by normal cars.
